4 Best Watches for Nursing Students

Make sure your respiration counts are accurate with these cool new watches.

Watches are one of the pieces of gear that your nursing school will require you to buy and one of the only things that will set you apart from your peers in the hospital (school-branded scrubs are not always the best looking). Some schools do have requirements for your watch, so you want to make sure whatever you pick fits within those guidelines. My school didn’t have any specific requirements, but some common requirements are 1) a watch with a second-hand 2) a non-smart watch. I’ve broken down my top choices according to these common requirements as well as budget.

Best Upgraded Watch w/ Second Hand for Nursing Students

SNK809 Seiko amazon.com

Many schools still require a watch to have a second hand in order for you to get used to counting respirations/pulses/etc. Although this logic doesn’t really make sense to me (can’t you do the same thing with a digital watch?), there are still many great options out there for you. This watch features:

  • Scratch resistant Hardlex screen

  • Water resistance to 100ft

  • Stainless steel bezel

  • Luminous sword-shaped hands

  • Automatic movement w/ 40hr power reserve

At a little over $120, this watch cannot be beat and the red-tipped second hand will be easy to spot while counting respirations or doing a pulse count.
