OOFOS OOcloog: a comfortable, versatile clog
A shoe designed with shock absorption and comfort in mind may be the best option for nurses who suffer from foot ailments.
Design and Colors
The OOcloogs come in several different colorways, many of which are limited edition patterns, including the pair being reviewed here in the Leopard colorway. The shoes are made of a proprietary material called OOFoam, which OOfoos says reduces impact by 37% more than traditional footwear. The clog is very light in weight and weighs in at about 14oz for the pair. The closed cell foam is also machine washable, meaning you never have to worry about what bodily fluids you might get on them because you can wash them whenever you need. One note about this model is that it does not have a heel strap of any kind, so if that is a requirement for you nursing school or hospital, then you might want to check out their non-clog shoes.
Comfort
This pair of clogs was recommended to my significant other by her podiatrist after she was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis. She said that her long hours of standing at work as an OR nurse were most likely what led to her pain issues and that the OOcloogs would be great for wearing around the house on her off days. When she put them on for the first time, she could immediately tell the difference between these and her normal house shoes. The comfort level is the best that she has experienced with a shoe or clog of any kind, and she has been wearing them everyday simply because they just feel that good.
Sizing
Like many other clogs, the OOcloogs only come in full sizes and OOFOS recommends sizing up if you are in between. This advice held true in this case and the 8 seemed to fit nicely (she usually wears a 7.5). I always reccomend trying shoes on in person if you can, but OOFOS offers a free 30 day return period, so if you don’t like them you can send them back for a free exchange or refund.
Reviews
Many of the review on the OOFOS site are from people suffering from plantar fasciitis and/or are nurses who work 12 hour shifts. I couldn’t find any real negative reviews, only folks who are raving about how comfortable these clogs are.
Conclusion
These clogs are ideal for anyone who suffers from foot pain issues and is looking for either an alternative to running style shoes while at work or to replace a normal slipper/house shoe on your days off. The price is on-par with other clogs of this style and the 30 day free trial period will give you time to decide if they are right for you!
